City of Beaumont Finance Department Receives Highest Audit Accolades and the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 36th Consecutive Year
The City of Beaumont received an unmodified opinion by Whitley Penn LLP on the City’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2022, which looks at the entire organization's financial operations in rigorous detail. This is the highest level of assurance an auditor can issue on financial statements, which assures that the financial statements are presented fairly, in all material respects, the respective financial position of the governmental activities, the business-type activities, each major fund, and the aggregate remaining fund information of the City, as of September 30, 2022, and the respective changes in financial position and cash flows for the year ended in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America. The audit can be viewed on the City of Beaumont website in the Finance department.
“We are delighted with the results of the audit and want the community to understand that we take the City’s fiscal responsibilities extremely seriously. The citizens of Beaumont should have the utmost trust that we’re good stewards of the City’s funds,” said Todd Simoneaux, Chief Financial Officer.
The Finance Department also received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 36th consecutive year from the Government Finance Officers Association, a professional association that includes 19,000 state, provincial, and local government finance officers in the United States and Canada.
