Beaumont’s Got Game: The City of Beaumont Launches New Youth Basketball League
Much research has shown that recreation and team sports are vital to children developing healthy lifestyles and the value of teamwork. As such, the City of Beaumont’s Recreation Department has started a new youth basketball league for boys and girls ages 8-13. The co-ed teams will play a six-week season with practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning November 28.
“We are always looking for new ways to help kids build strength, coordination, and endurance while instilling healthy habits that can last a lifetime. These activities foster social skills and teamwork while teaching them the value of cooperation, communication, and conflict resolution. We are thrilled to be able to offer a new program to the citizens of Beaumont. Come out and play!” said Recreation Director Jimmy Neale.
All players are expected to attend a tryout, with teams formed upon completion of the tryout. Practices will begin in November, and games will take place on Saturdays in January/February at the Sterling Pruitt Activity Center.
Registration is open from October 20 – November 5 at Teamsideline.com/Beaumont. The cost is $85 per player. Tryouts will be held November 14 at 6 pm for ages 8-9, November 14 at 7 pm for ages 10-11, and November 16 at 7 pm for ages 12-13.
