Beaumont Animal Care and BPD Break up Dog Fighting Operation in Beaumont’s South End
On Sunday night, July 30, at approximately 9:50 PM, Beaumont Crime Stoppers received a tip of dog fighting in progress at 1740 W. Highland Drive. Beaumont Animal Care and patrol officers responded and, upon arrival, found multiple subjects around an elaborate wooden pen used for dog fighting in the woods behind the residence. Upon the announcement of the arrival of the officers, multiple people dispersed into the woods. K9 units were called to the scene and were able to assist in the locating and apprehension of multiple subjects.
Three pit bulls, all with injuries consistent with fighting, were located and seized on the scene. A large sum of cash was also located and seized as evidence. Several individuals were arrested for evading arrest, while Andra Joseph Mouton, from Winnie, was arrested for animal cruelty and dog fighting.
