The City of Beaumont is giving notice of the City's intent to submit an application to the Texas General Land Office (GLO) for a Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) Program.  The proposed grant application is up to $1,000,000.00 and is to be used for the following project(s) in Beaumont, Texas.   


  1. Road and drainage improvements along Phelps Rd 
  2. Road and drainage improvements in Laura Addition 


The City will request public comments for fourteen (14) days from the date of this posting.  The public is encouraged to submit comments that will assist the City in evaluating the proposed project(s) that will help the City recover from 2019 disasters and mitigate the devastating effects of natural disasters as well ensure the project(s) are in line with environmental regulations, affirmatively further fair housing activities, and, if applicable, minimizing displacement of persons by project activities. 


Upon the expiration of this comment period the City will review and address the public comments in the proposed application.  Final project recommendations will be presented to the City Council prior to the submission of the application to the GLO on or before August 1, 2022.

 La Ciudad de Beaumont está notificando la intención de la Ciudad de presentar una solicitud a la Oficina General de Tierras de Texas (GLO) para un Programa de Subvención en Bloque de Desarrollo Comunitario – Recuperación de Desastres (CDBG-DR). La solicitud de subvención propuesta es de hasta $1,000,000.00 y se utilizará para los siguientes proyectos en Beaumont, Texas.  


  1. Mejoras en las carreteras y el drenaje a lo largo de Phelps Rd  
  2. Mejoras viales y de drenaje en Laura Addition  


La Ciudad solicitará comentarios públicos durante catorce (14) días a partir de la fecha de esta publicación. Se alienta al público a enviar comentarios que ayuden a la Ciudad a evaluar los proyectos propuestos que ayudarán a la Ciudad a recuperarse de los desastres de 2019 y mitigar los efectos devastadores de los desastres naturales, así como a garantizar que los proyectos estén en línea con las regulaciones ambientales, promover afirmativamente las actividades de vivienda justa y, si corresponde, minimizar el desplazamiento de personas por las actividades del proyecto.  


Al vencimiento de este período de comentarios, la Ciudad revisará y abordará los comentarios públicos en la solicitud propuesta. Las recomendaciones del proyecto final se presentarán al Concejo Municipal antes de la presentación de la solicitud al GLO en o antes del 1 de agosto de 2022.
