FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Beaumont Animal Care Officers Seize Severely Emaciated Dachshund on Sullivan St. in Beaumont’s South End.
May 19, 2022
Beaumont, Texas:
Yesterday, May 18th, 2022, Beaumont Animal Care officers served a civil seizure warrant at 4613 Sullivan St. in Beaumont’s south end, in order to gain custody of a severely malnourished dachshund located at this residence. Two other dogs that belonged to the same owner were also seized.
This seizure comes as a result of an investigation that was opened on Monday the 16th, after officers had received a complaint related to animal cruelty at this residence. No one was home at the time the initial call for service was made.
Subsequently, a warrant was issued for the seizure of all animals and the civil seizure hearing has been set for June 1st in Justice of the Peace, Judge Collins court, at 11:00a.m. This hearing will decide if there was enough evidence to determine whether or not the animals had been cruelty treated and at that time either is awarded to the City of Beaumont or returned its owner.
In the event the animals are awarded to the City of Beaumont Animal Care Department, they would be available for adoption at that time. Depending on the outcome of the case, criminal charges could be pending.
