FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Beaumont, Texas - July 1, 2021) Beaumont Animal Care is asking the public to not bring stray or owned cats into the facility after an outbreak of Feline Parvo. The shelter had over 40 cats that were exposed to the highly contagious virus.
The shelter made a plea to local rescues in an effort to get the cats out of the environment. Luckily, a rescue was able to pull all the cats for treatment so that the difficult decision of euthanasia did not have to be made. Now that all the cats have left the facility, Beaumont Animal Care will be disinfecting and cleaning both the cat rooms in order to rid the shelter of the virus. Beaumont Animal Care will not be accepting any stray or owner surrender cats until further notice. In order to clean and disinfect properly, both cat rooms will need to be empty for the remainder of the cleaning process.
For information on when cat intake will resume, check Beaumont Animal Care’s Facebook page for updates. If you have any questions, please contact Beaumont Animal Care at the number above or email at [email protected].
