Elmo Willard Library

Elmo Willard LibraryFounded in 1998, the Elmo R. Willard III Branch Library is named for the late civil rights lawyer and Beaumont native, who practiced law here with Theodore R. Johns.

In partnership with Johns, and in association with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), Willard worked many civil rights cases. Helping win the desegregation of public parks, local schools, and Lamar State College of Technology, as well as cafes, restaurants, and other public facilities in the Beaumont area.
